Used car export "driving" out of "acceleration"
"In the past three years, affected by the epidemic, rising sea freight and other factors, the second-hand car export business has declined, but the business volume has obviously improved this year." In the first four months of this year, our company exported more used cars than the whole of last year, and we plan to achieve the sales target of 4,000 cars this year." Recently, an insider of a used car export enterprise told the reporter of China Business News.
Compared with Japan, South Korea, Europe and the United States and other countries, China's second-hand car export started late, is still in the initial stage. On April 26, 2019, the three departments of the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Public Security and the General Administration of Customs jointly issued the "Notice on Supporting the Export Business of Used Cars in mature Areas", and the first batch of 10 provinces and cities including Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Zhejiang (Taizhou), Shandong (Jining), Guangdong, Sichuan (Chengdu), Shaanxi (Xi 'an), Qingdao and Xiamen were launched. Officially opened the domestic used car export business.
The reporter noted that since 2023, China's second-hand car export business has improved significantly. Recently, Tianjin Customs released data show that since the beginning of this year, Tianjin port used car exports of more than 5,200, an increase of more than 6 times, has initially achieved large-scale development. In 2022, the number and amount of used car exports ranked first among 30 pilot cities in the country, Taizhou, Zhejiang Province, also recently disclosed that in the first four months of this year, Taizhou exported 3,265 used cars, with an export amount of 63,365,500 US dollars. The reporter noted that in 2019, when the used car business was just started, Taizhou exported only 794 used cars, with an export amount of only $4,417,200.
"Although the number of domestic used car exports is still very small, but China as the world's largest car production and consumer, for used car exports to provide sufficient supply." China's second-hand car value-added tax has been reduced from 2% to 0.5%, which is a major favorable policy for second-hand car export enterprises. In the future, with the commercialization of second-hand cars and the further lifting of restrictions on relocation, the second-hand car export business will usher in major development opportunities." Recently, Xiao Zhengsan, vice president and secretary-general of the China Automobile Circulation Association, said at the 2023 China Used Car Export Summit Forum.
Luo Lei, assistant president of the China Automobile Circulation Association, believes that China's used car exports should take small steps, may wish to start from wholesale. "Many Chinese enterprises have been working overseas for many years, have a good material foundation and interpersonal relationships, and can borrow existing resources (to do a good job in the export of used cars)."
