What ADVANTAGE DOES OUR COUNTRY USED CAR EXPORT HAVE?

The export of used cars in China is still in its initial stage and has huge potential for future development, with abundant resources, complete categories and high cost performance, said Gao Feng, spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce, in response to a question from a reporter of the cover news at a regular press conference.

According to the recent news on the official website of the Ministry of Commerce, according to the Notice of the General Office of the Ministry of Commerce on issuing the First batch of Industrial Standard Planning Projects in the commercial Field in 2021, China Automotive Technology and Research Center Co., LTD., and Automobile Dealers' Chamber of Commerce, All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce have organized and completed the draft for soliciting comments on the Export Quality Standards for Used Passenger Vehicles and Export Quality Standards for Used Commercial Vehicles and Trailers.

Gao stressed that expanding used car exports is an important way to promote the upgrading of domestic auto consumption and promote a smooth domestic and international double cycle in the auto industry. Since 2019, the Ministry of Commerce, together with the Ministry of Public Security, the General Administration of Customs and other departments, has promoted and supported 30 regions to carry out second-hand car export business, and achieved positive results.

Gao pointed out that, on the whole, China's second-hand car export is still in the initial stage and has great potential for future development. The main advantages are that, first, China has become the world's largest car ownership country with 280 million vehicles in 2020. According to the China Automobile Circulation Association, the volume of used cars traded in China reached 14.34 million in 2020, providing sufficient supply for the export of used cars. Second, China's second-hand car cost performance is relatively high, international competitiveness is strong, many good condition, low price of second-hand cars, are welcomed in developing countries markets. Third, Chinese automobile production and export enterprises have established a better international marketing service network in the world, which can provide comprehensive all-round services for foreign consumers.

Gao Feng said that setting quality standards for second-hand car export is mainly to solve the difficulties in the international circulation of cars. "On the one hand, we should regulate the export order of second-hand cars, and on the other hand, we should ensure the quality of products, so as to provide foreign consumers with more assured products."

According to Gao Feng, the quality standards will promote the more sustainable development of China's used car exports and contribute new incremental contributions to stabilizing foreign trade, while also helping to expand the number of Chinese auto products in overseas markets, improve brand awareness, enhance international competitiveness and promote high-quality trade development.
