On November 15, the State Information Office held a press conference on the operation of the national economy in October 2023, and Liu Aihua, spokesman of the National Bureau of Statistics, chief economist and Director of the Department of Comprehensive Statistics of the National Economy, attended and introduced the relevant information. Liu Aihua said that from the situation in October this year, whether from the production, sales or exports of automobiles, have maintained rapid growth. In October, auto production rose 8.5 percent year on year, and retail sales rose 11.4 percent, 8.6 percentage points faster than the previous month, with new energy vehicles playing a bigger role. In terms of sales volume, according to the data of relevant industry associations, sales growth is more than 30%. Among them, the export value of new energy vehicles increased by 88.5% in October, which is faster.
Liu Aihua believes that the reason for the rapid growth of automobile exports, especially new energy vehicles, involves two aspects of supply and demand. First, demand is high. In recent years, many countries, including China, are promoting green energy transformation, green and environmental protection concepts are increasingly popular, upgrading and green commodity consumption demand are continuing to release, driven by this demand, new energy vehicles whether in the domestic sales or in the external market sales have maintained a rapid growth trend. Second, the continuous enhancement and optimization of the supply side. After years of development, China's new energy automobile industry has relatively strong technological innovation ability and competitiveness, relatively rich products, and continuous optimization and improvement of supply capacity.
