China Association of Automobile Manufacturers data show that in the first half of 2022, China's new energy vehicles exported a total of 202,000 units, an increase of 1.3 times year-on-year, accounting for 16.6% of the total automobile exports.
In the first eight months of 2023, China exported 1.91 million vehicles, surpassing Germany and second only to Japan to become the world's second largest auto exporter. Among them, the rapid growth of new energy vehicle exports has promoted the acceleration of China's auto brands to overseas markets.
In 2021, under the environment of rapid expansion of new energy vehicle markets in both China and Europe, the sales volume of Chinese auto companies' exports to Europe increased significantly to 189,000 units. In the first eight months of this year, Chinese car companies have exported 193,000 vehicles to Europe, more than the whole of last year.
Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory exported nearly 100,000 vehicles, accounting for 48% of China's total new energy vehicle exports, more than twice the volume exported in the same period last year.
Dongfeng Easyjet, BYD New Energy, Shenlong Automobile, Jianghuai Automobile, FAW Red Flag and other Chinese auto brands have also achieved good export results in the field of new energy.
